| 90th Anniversary of the Russian Air Force |
To celebrate this event an open day with flying display took place at Chkalovskiy air base on August 18, 2002. After the
disaster at Lviv airshow on July 27 the flight programme was strictly reduced. Despite this some very interesting aircraft
were shown. The hope that also the MiG-21 would be on display (as happened at
SOKOL factory (Nishniy Novgorod) some weeks
before) did not fulfill. But as this website is dedicated to the MiG-21 this report starts with some pictures of MiG-21s
