WZL 2 Bydgoszcz (Poland) 2004

The last German MiG-29s were due to arrive in Poland on August 3, 2004. As because of the bad weather the arrival was postponed one day and the author could not wait until the next day the visiting programme had to be reduced to a factory visit at Wojskowe Zaklady Lotnicze (Military Aircraft Works) No 2 Bydgoszcz.

In Poland the German MiG-29s get a major overhaul in and are disassembled almost completely.

In parallel to the refurbishment of the German aircraft runs the industrial maintenance of the Polish MiG-29s.

Beside the MiG-29 TS-11 Iskra and Su-22 - seen here - are overhauled at WZL 2.

The overhaul covers all systems of the aircraft including the targeting system.

At WZL 2 there is a small company museum where beside Su-7 and Su-20 this MiG-21M is shown.

During the visit at Bydgoszcz several helicopters were seen there like this Mi-2.
