On November 21, 2003 the author was given the chance to visit AEROSTAR S.A. Bacău.
|

Following the delivery of the last upgraded MiG-21 LanceR in April now the
industrial overhaul of the first production aircraft started.
|
|
All components are dismantled, inspected and - if necessary - repaired.
|
|
AEROSTAR also overhauls MiG-21 engines of all versions. After completion all engines are checked at companies engine
test stand.
|
|
Unlike the prototypes of LanceR B and C versions which currently are brought at production standard the LanceR A
prototype is stored at the factory.
|
|
Its fate is shared by the MiG-29 Sniper upgrade demonstrator.

AEROSTAR is engaged in numerous civil programmes, among them this Turbojet fire extinguisher fitted with a R11 MiG-21
engine.
|
