From August 22 to September 5, 2012, the Romanian-US exercise Dacian Viper 2012 took place at the base of Flotila 71 Aeriană "General Emanoil Ionescu" at Câmpia Turzii. The American contingent consisted of eight F-16s and more than 150 members of the 187th Fighter Wing of the Alabama Air National Guard, based at Dannelly Field in Montgomery. On the Romanian side, six MiG-21 LanceR and around 200 soldiers took part. As part of the press day on August 9, the author had the opportunity to visit the exercise.
